Thread of the message « "compiling" PHP causes HAPedit 3.1 to hang »
[Subject] Posted 01/17/2005 at 07:36 by DaveP Down
Hi,

I have previously been able to compile my php code and view the results.
I must have changed something (but I don't know what ) and now when I try to compile my php HAPedit just hangs (using 100% of the CPU) on Win2000Pro SP4.

Any ideas how I fix it?

I 'fixed' the problem by removing the HAPedit folder from my profile and starting HAPedit to recreate all the settings. I had to change a few settings to match my environment but I'm back to work now

Thanks for a great program.

Yep,

I have had the same problem. There seem to be particular errors which trigger the crash although I haven't worked out what they are.

It manifests in one of two ways:
a) HapEdit reports that compilation is fine even though there are obvious errors.
b) HapEdit hangs on compile. Loading the file directly in the browser reports errors in php code.

Only solution is delete HapEdit folder from Documents and Setting/Application Data.

(Using localhost for compile. Never really get satisfactory results using php.exe directly)

With my present project Hapedit is falling over every two compiles or so so I have had to abandon using it (

One other suggestion Daniel. I run my whole apache, php, mysql off a usb memory stick. This means I can plug the memory stick into any computer and have it up and running with out effecting anything on the host machine.

Would it possible for the next version of hapedit to look in its home folder first for a .ini file. If it finds one then it uses that rather than creating one on the host machine in Documents and Settings.

Cheers,

GypsumBlue

HAPEdit doesn't like something in my php.ini but I have no idea what 'cause I can't remember changing anything. Now hangs on every compile

Apache 1.3.31
PHP 4.3.10
