This is a nice editor. Really is and certainly for freeware!!! I use it for PHP 5 now (although PHP5 code completion works only as long as code for PHP4 is entered).
I think it matches other shareware editors or commercial ones without any doubt. I use it for some days now and I have to say that I like it for at least:
- small footprint - clean and easy to install - stable (did NOT crash at all so far while commercial ones did) - nice configuration options because of font settings, colors on keywords, strings, vars, reserved words, symbols and other syntax related stuff. - Very nice and goodworking var/classes/function tree (left tree pane) - easy to integrate with PHP - code completion - code hints - debug results of the PHP compiler/interpreter - easy non-clutered windows when editing and switching between multiple PHP programs. I do like that tab stuff, it switches much more convenient than MDI windows.
Man o man..... to program all this takes a lot of time.
If you have spare time left (I hardly can imagine) you would have the BEST editor if code completion is based on a text/ascii file (now it is internal I believe). If additionaly one could also add self made code hints/examples (say up to 12 rows of small text) based on your lng files, then it is PERFECT!!!!
Keep up this very good work. I think that you should sell this software as it is right now.
And I'm only using it for PHP!!!! ..... not even HTML...... but I will do so within the next few weeks
Regards Rembrand

Hi Rembrand,

Thanks

Yes all PHP functions are not in code completion, such as "experimental" functions. If you think I forgot an important block or simple function, please let me know.

I don't understand what you mean.
> - clean and easy to install
Yes, the famous "Unzip&Run". And also it doesn't touch the register to work.
> - stable (did NOT crash at all so far while commercial ones did)
Yes it is stable; but the truth is there is an "anti-crash" feature within HAPedit, and this feature is working at 99,9%
> - nice configuration options because of font settings, colors on keywords, > strings, vars, reserved words, symbols and other syntax related stuff.
You are speaking about PHP syntax highlighting. Yes I made a big effort there and a lot of users are considering that is the best one. Some others found what is missing > - Very nice and goodworking var/classes/function tree (left tree pane)
Not yet fully optimized, but it is working fast and right (for my very personnal point of view)
> - easy to integrate with PHP
Yes for a standard usage. In the future, I will do more: - no more settings changement to allow to work with HAPedit - different PHP versions - PHP installed over the local network
It should be one of the main things of release 3.2
> - code completion
As I said in HAPedit French Forum, PHP classes detection should be integrated in 3.2 Stay tuned

I started this project by nov. 1999, precisely 5 years! Happy birthday HAPedit > If you have spare time left (I hardly can imagine) you would have the BEST > editor if code completion is based on a text/ascii file (now it is internal > I believe).
To be fast, data are formated into a specific format. Any format error in this file and this is the "anti-crash" Anyway, I will remind your feedback about that.

Please, could you be more precise; I don't understand.

This is your opinion and I'm very happy to know it In a few words, HAPedit is my own editor for my own needs and I share it with anyone. At same the time users send me their feedback and I learn things (for my own needs) and I integrate these things in HAPedit. This is a loop, and I think a business will break this very benefit loop. Furthermore, ..., no, too much things to say > And I'm only using it for PHP!!!! ..... not even HTML...... but I will do so > within the next few weeks
All the Best. Thanks for your feedback.

I have to agree, I've been using it for editing ASP files and I'm amazed at how fast and stable it is. Excellent work sir!

Please, keep up the great work!

You are welcome.

Oh yes; it doesn't use a lot of space on disk. The size will increase if you donwload many country languages and the add-onds.
