Brian Birmingham: I feel like One of the main things it did was to expose our sense of what it means to have an expansion, which to us was so as if we were able to discover a new location to explore, and new experiences to discover. And this world that you can explore in Outland is an exciting and exciting space to visit. And some of those early raids, specifically Karazhan and Karazhan, are among my most favorite, and being capable of delivering on this promise of, "Hey, there's a new chapter, a brand new thing to do." It was a thing that was extremely exciting about this expansion.

John Hight WoW was so huge in its first day of discovery, looking through it, you could feel the power at the time of WoW in the beginning when the game first appeared. How can you improve on it with an expansion? I think the imagination that surrounded each of the zones, and the introduction of new races into your playable characters, was quite an incredible experience. I'm aware having preconceived notions regarding what Burning Crusade would be, and they were considerably less than what it became and that excitement of crossing the dark Portal...I did my best to avoid knowing the things I was likely to discover when I crossed over. I did not play the early stages, so it was a real treat.

Revisiting it now with The Burning Crusade Classic through WoW Classic must be a real trip, seeing it come full circle like this. Are there things you see or notice better or more fully now?

Brian Birmingham: Definitely. I'd say that for me it began with WoW Classic itself, but one of the things I realize now that I wasn't aware of was the essential social stickiness that results from having the desire to form your own team. There are definitely the pleasant benefits of "I can join a new group of dungeons at lunchtime," in modern WoW However, returning to Classic and being able to say, "No, I'm going to plan out what I'm going do to conquer this dungeon. I'm supposed to get my group of players together. I'll need to invite members who are my friends as well as find friends when I don't have enough. I need to put my effort into this." ...that created these types of groups sticky and make me feel like they were important and they were the beginnings for a long-lasting friWorld Warcraftcraft. I'm grateful for that information of Burning Crusade and it's definitely altered my view of how important that is.
